The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a widely used graduate admissions test administered by ETS (Educational Testing Service). It is taken by individuals seeking to enroll in MS or graduate programs abroad. Candidates can choose to take the GRE in person at a designated test venue or opt for the “GRE at Home” option, which allows them to take the exam online throughout the year. Both formats of the exam are available.

What exactly is the GRE?

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE), also known as the GRE General Test and conducted by ETS, is a renowned graduate admissions evaluation program, especially for Engineering and Science. It serves as a standardized test to assess the overall intellectual readiness of applicants for graduate study. The GRE General Test evaluates candidates’ verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing skills. Additionally, there is the GRE Subject Test, which assesses a candidate’s knowledge level in specific subject areas. Currently, the GRE Subject Tests are available in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology only.
